Hi besties! Spring is here and I am in the mood to reset and refresh my life. Big plans, I know! For the month of April (and hopefully beyond), I am challenging myself to do one extra act of self-care every day – that isn’t already a part of my normal routine. I’m excited to share this journey with you and encourage you to take on the challenge as well. Self-care is so essential to take your life from surviving to thriving, one step at a time. I have found it is crucial between my depression, anxiety, PMDD, and PCOS to incorporate self-care to manage and aid in my treatment of all those conditions.
I know some of you may be thinking, “Who has time for that?” But trust me, self-care doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive. It can be as simple as taking a few minutes each day to do something that brings you joy and relaxation or makes the next day easier for you to manage. That is what this challenge is all about!
My 30-Day Self-Care Journey:
Reflection:
Without a doubt, I loved this challenge and plan to do it again next month. I realized there are so many tiny moments throughout the day where I can practice a little self-love and a little self-care to make the current day or future days brighter and better. I did notice this month I was focused on healing my leg and making sure I went to all my physical therapy appointments. For next month, I want to continue the trend and make sure I start planning dentist visits, endocrinologist visits, and other health-related activities I have been avoiding, but I know need to get done. Overall this experience has been 10/10 and I definitely hope you can try it! I have put together a little check list of activities that you can try with minimal effort and money.
Inexpensive or Quick Self-Care Ideas:
Listen to your favorite podcast or music
Take a relaxing walk outside
Visit a new coffee shop
Make an affordable flower bouquet
Visit a new coffee shop
Do a digital detox for the day
Go to bed early to get more rest
Pack yourself lunch for the next day
Practice mindfulness for 5 minutes
Call a loved one
Paint or do crafts
Try a new beauty treatment
Watch a nostalgic movie (I chose Princess Diaries!)
Write out goals and aspirations
Take a nap
Create a realistic vision board (I love pinterest for this!)
Go for a scenic drive or hike
Practice self-compassion and positive self talk
Pick a new skill or take a new class
Reflect on accomplishments and celebrate successes – no matter how “small”
These are just a few examples of self-care activities you can try out this month, but the possibilities are endless. You can tailor your self-care routine based on your own personal needs and interests. Try asking yourself how you are feeling and how you want to feel, and pick out self-care tasks that will get you closer to how you want to feel. If you are feeling tired but want to feel more energized, maybe a nap/rest or trying out a new coffee shop is in order!
I hope you’ll join me on this self-care challenge and let’s prioritize ourselves again this coming month. Let’s make self-care a daily habit and see how it can make us feel! If you have any self-care ideas you want to share or update me on your self-care journey, then don’t forget to comment on this post! 🙂
